Job Introduction

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Buying and Merchandising team as Brand Assistant.

 

The successful candidate will work as part of the Buying and Merchandising team and directly support Nick Bucknell (Head of Fashion and Classic brands) with a varied range of responsibilities relating to product. The role will play a key part in ensuring the departments objective of delivering the right product, to the right place at the right time are met.

 

Effective and adaptable communication is key to this role. All brands have their own individual required approach, such as fast paced and reactionary for fashion, or continuous steady support for others. A large part of the role will involve communications with our suppliers to ensure any orders that are placed arrive on time, taking a proactive approach to any delays and liaising with Nick to implement any remedial actions. Good working relationships with our suppliers is a must. Another part of the role is being a direct point of contact and support for Stores, office colleagues and suppliers.

The role requires an enthusiastic person with a genuine interest and passion for our brands, who works well in a team and can also work using their own initiative to develop their area of responsibility. The successful candidate should also be able to adapt to change and be flexible around workload to ensure deadlines are met whilst being supportive to their colleagues.

 

Role Responsibility

The main aspects of the role include the following but are not exclusive to:

  • Working collaboratively with the rest of the Buying and Merchandising team and other internal departments such as stock in, special orders, marketing and repairs.
  • New line management, ensuring all new lines are created correctly including costings and attributes. New brands to the business will also require research and creativity to help in the creation of launch packs
  • Stock management and ensuring orders are on schedule. Communication with various departments within the business during the whole order process is essential to ensure smooth receipt and distribution of stock. The successful candidate will also be expected to report on supplier performance
  • Developing and maintaining good working relationships with our suppliers
  • Sample management, ensuring samples are available for photography and responsible for the security of samples
  • Reporting and communicating information, both internally and externally, whilst being aware of security of information
  • Focused on protecting our profits and driving turnover

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

  • Excellent all round communication skills including telephone manner;
  • High attention to detail, level of numeracy, literacy and accuracy.
  • Ability to prioritise workload;
  • A great team player who can actively help support the Buying and Merchandising department, the office, stores and external partners;
  • Flexible and adaptable;
  • Good decision-making skills;
  • The ability to be proactive use their own initiative .
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office programs, i.e. Outlook and Excel;
  • Knowledge of our brands and ranges, an advantage although not essential;
  • Passion for product
