We have a fantastic opportunity for a passionate IT Operations Manager who enjoys a hands-on management approach, to join our award-winning business to support with ensuring the smooth operation and development of IT systems for both our Office and stores.
As IT Operations Manager you will play an important role in formulating and implementing IT strategy for the company, whilst using your great decision making skills in a reactive environment to ensure systems are always available and performant.
No two days in this position will be the same; so whilst you will overseeing the IT operations, you’ll also be expected to jump in and help the team when required.

This role is based at our office in Lytham St Annes, Lancashire. The team are currently operating a hybrid way of working, with a mix of work from home and time in the office. This can be discussed further at interview.
Role Responsibility
- Responsible for supervising and directing the activities of relevant IT department team members, to ensure the availability of systems, including: cloud services, applications, data services and analytics systems, network connectivity and other key systems.
- Oversee the management and maintenance of networking and telecommunication systems- monitoring system performance to help to identify system and service improvements, and minimising the number of repeat incidents resulting from problems (i.e. common root causes).
- Plan and manage the implementation, updating and upgrading of business systems and applications.
- Oversee the management and licensing of computer/mobile device software applications.
- Liaise with and manage external IT suppliers with regards to the procurement of computer hardware, licences and services, and setting and managing budgets.
- Using policies, processes and procedures to govern IT operations and ensure good governance and compliance with standards and best practices, including compliance with GDPR and PCI standards.
- Monitoring customer satisfaction with the IT systems and support service- including satisfaction with devices, application performance and availability, user experience, connectivity and service level.
- Manage equipment floor space and operational requirements such as air conditioning, battery backup and power supply.
- Developing and reviewing cyber security procedures and processes to support secure operations and cyber incident response. Conduct internal audits to verify the security and efficiency of the organisation’s networks.
- Ensure effective DR/Backup solutions are in place and arrange regular testing of the solution, developing and validating disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
The Ideal Candidate
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience of a hands-on management approach in an IT role
- Proven ability to make decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with system installation, configuration, analysis
- Experience of using/managing Office365 systems
- Knowledge of Network and Communications Management (firewalls, routing and switching)
- Experience of Microsoft Windows Desktop/Server and VMWare
- Knowledge of Cloud Services Management e.g. SaaS
- Experience of IT/Cyber Security
- Experience of Supplier/Contracts management
- Experience of Budget setting/management
DESIRABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Knowledge of NetApp Storage Management
- Knowledge of data protection operations and legislation (eg. GDPR/PCI)
- Experience of Retail Store Systems Management e.g. EPoS
- Knowledge of Stock Management/Fulfilment/CRM Systems – e.g. Microsoft Navision/Business Central
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems.
