Job Title: Reporting Accountant

Department: Finance

Salary: £25,000-£27,000 depending on experience 

Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday- please note that some additional hours may be required around month and year ends

We now have a fantastic opportunity for a highly logical and experienced Reporting Accountant with a strong attention to detail, to join the Beaverbrooks family as a member of our Finance Department. 

The Beaverbrooks Reporting Accountant will pride themselves in their problem-solving skill set and their ability to step back and analyse the bigger picture. An excellent communicator, you will love working as part of our small team, but you will also work confidently managing your own independent workload, which will vary from day to day.

Role Responsibility

You will support the Beaverbrooks Accountant in the following functions:

  • Completion of the month end working papers and preparation of management accounts.
  • Preparing and posting journal entries.
  • Preparation of accruals and prepayments.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations resolving all aged and unfamiliar balances in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for preparing and reviewing the company VAT return.
  • Responsible for the accounting function of a subsidiary company.
  • Responsible for the Fixed Asset Register and calculation and recording of depreciation
  • Responsible for the accurate recording of incentives and payment of PAYE & NI
  • Assist with cash flow management and reporting.
  • Preparation and reporting of government statistics
  • Involvement in project work for business and system upgrades and improvements
  • Assisting in external audit queries
  • Liaising with key stakeholders and other colleagues within the finance team
  • General ad hoc duties – Set up vendor accounts, IFC staff sales calculations, providing support and cover within the wider finance team

The Ideal Candidate

Essential:

  • Proven knowledge of double entry and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations 
  • Proactive attitude to finding system solutions to processing and reporting requirements.
  • Practical experience of VAT regulations. Awareness of the impact accounting decisions may have on PAYE/NI liabilities and Corporation Tax.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to review own work for accuracy.
  • Ability to work as an integral part of a small team with a flexible and personable approach
  • Experience of working independently, prioritising workload and meeting objectives
  • A proactive approach to supporting the needs of colleagues and the wider business
  • Excellent accounting software user
  • Advanced excel skills including VLOOKUP’s and pivot tables
  • Analytical, tenacious, able to engage and challenge at a management level in a professional manner
  • Ability to maintain privacy of confidential data.

Desirable:

Experience of Navision software is desirable yet not essential
