Junior Software Developer

Job Introduction

  • Junior Software Developer
  • Permanent - 40 hours per week
  • Lytham St Annes, Lancashire
  • £32,000 - £36,000 per annum, depending on experience

We have an exciting opportunity to join Beaverbrooks as a Junior Software Developer within our established Technology team.

This role is ideal for someone who has completed a software development apprenticeship, relevant degree or has equivalent practical experience and is looking to develop their career in a commercial environment.

Working alongside experienced colleagues, you’ll help support and improve applications that are important to the day-to-day running of Beaverbrooks, while gaining hands-on experience across software development, cloud technologies, APIs and system integration.

Our technology landscape is evolving from long-established systems towards a more modern, cloud-based architecture, giving you the opportunity to work across both legacy and emerging technologies. You don’t need to know everything from day one – we’re looking for someone with a good technical foundation, curiosity and a genuine desire to learn.

This is a hybrid role, with a minimum of three days per week based at our office.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain and improve applications used across Beaverbrooks.
  • Investigate and help resolve application issues and defects.
  • Support and develop integrations between Beaverbrooks systems and third-party platforms.
  • Build and consume APIs and gain experience with REST APIs, web services and messaging.
  • Support the modernisation and progressive replacement of legacy applications.
  • Gain exposure to major technology initiatives including Order Management, CRM, ERP, Point of Sale, Warehouse Management, Payments and Customer Data.
  • Write clean, understandable and maintainable code.
  • Use source control, take part in code reviews and follow agreed development standards.
  • Support testing, CI/CD, application monitoring and automated deployment processes.
  • Work closely with experienced developers and colleagues across the wider Technology team.
  • Continue developing your technical and business knowledge through hands-on experience, learning and training.
